Introducing ACIN: Bringing the Insurance Industry Together for Agentic Commerce
What should an insurance experience look like when it begins with an AI agent?
Consider a customer asking an assistant to help find coverage for an upcoming trip. A useful experience would need to go beyond presenting a list of policies. It would need to clarify the customer’s needs, explain relevant differences, and establish what happens when the customer is ready to proceed.
That scenario raises questions for everyone involved in the journey, from the insurer providing coverage to the technology and payment providers supporting the transaction.
To bring these conversations together, Fletch has announced the formation of the Agentic Commerce Insurance Network (ACIN), an industry working group exploring the practical requirements of agent-assisted insurance. The announcement was published on EIN Presswire on October 20, 2026.

A shared forum for practical questions
Founded and convened by Fletch, ACIN brings together perspectives from across the insurance ecosystem. Participants include MetLife, Mutual of Omaha, CLEAR, Great American Insurance Group (GAIG), Adyen, Stripe, Basis Theory, Faye, Ripple, AirOps, Odie, HUMAN Security, We Insure, The Zebra, Abacus Global Management, ACORD, Plaid, Matic, Ai-Risk, and more.
The group provides a neutral forum for discussing common challenges, without promoting a particular model, platform, or vendor.
For an agent-assisted insurance journey, the details matter. How should an assistant distinguish an explanation of coverage from an actionable quote? How can a customer understand which information has been shared and what they have authorized? If the conversation moves to a human professional, what context should follow?
These are useful questions to examine together because each crosses organizational boundaries. A clear explanation at the start of a conversation has limited value if the next step introduces uncertainty about the product, the customer’s intent, or who is responsible.
Putting trust into the customer journey
ACIN’s announced areas of discussion include trust, control, identity, and accountability. Meetings are initially planned quarterly, beginning in November 2026, with compliance-focused meeting practices and documentation.
A practical way to approach these topics is to start with the decisions a customer needs to make. Before sharing information, they should understand its purpose. Before proceeding with a purchase, they should be able to review what they are choosing. When a question needs human judgment, the path to help should be clear.
Viewed this way, preparing for agentic commerce means examining the entire experience: what the customer asks, what the assistant can reliably explain, and what must happen before an action is taken.
Join the conversation
ACIN creates a place for the industry to explore these requirements together and exchange perspectives on responsible development.
If your organization is considering how AI agents could fit into insurance discovery, quoting, or transactions, we invite you to join the conversation.
